My First Reiki Experience

I'm currently unemployed. It has been a frustrating month now because I haven't heard back from the place I'd like, and even though I applied at other places, I've either gotten a resounding "no", or no response at all. I have a household to run, and my emotions and mental health are taking a hit. I know this situation has got me blocked in many places spiritually, I just didn't know how to fix it any better than what I am already trying.

I found a gift card with a little cash left in it, so I went to our local witchy shop and decided I should get a reiki session. They were mini sessions of 15 minutes, only for $10. I figured, I'm blocked energetically; why the hell not, right?

Kaylie was an absolute gem. She explained to me what she was doing and what a full sessions would be like if I wanted to pursue it, She was gentle, and she worked well. I don't know exactly how reiki works; I just know that it is a form of energetic healing similar to "laying of hands" that I grew up in the Pentecostal churches I went to. I needed this, and Kaylie delivered beautifully.

As soon as her hands were hovering over my crown and third-eye, I could feel the vibrations. I got tingles throughout my body, and I relaxed enough to "turn into mush." Everywhere she focused on, I could feel the heat from her hands profoundly, and the vibrations circulating throughout my body. By the time she was finished, I felt light-headed and warm. It was a heady experience. She later told me to keep an eye out on what symptoms may occur, physically, mentally , and energetically. I can only say, I had to ground myself before driving to the grocery store because I felt like I was floating. All in all, a great, experience, and I will likely go again when I can.

I wonder how others experience reiki.

Doodles and Sigils

June 2 was my 37th birthday. I didn't get a lot of material things, but I had a great weekend spent with family. At the end of the weekend, while I was running errands, I came across a tiny sketchbook. Now, I'm not a great artist of any kind, but I love to doodle. At least, I did for many years. I stopped, not because I grew to dislike it, but because my depression and my plethora of mental illness problems seemed to have blocked my creativity. So I bought this little book and went to work.

The drawings are simple, but to me they represent sigils of peace, love, protection, and rebirth. I haven't drawn much this past week as I've been busy with other things, but I'm making time to look through it every day, whether I draw in it or not, to feel the energy I put in these doodles.

I have a job interview today. Let's vibe it goes well.

Find A Lost Item Spell and My Badge

You see this? This is my work badge. I use it, not only as identification, but as a key to the building if the doors are locked. Last month, I found, that two weeks before school let out, I had lost it. No idea where it went and I tore the house apart looking for it; asking everyone if they had seen it anywhere, to no avail. However, I do have witchy ways.

I have a go-to, find-an-item spell that has a good track record. It doesn't always work, but I take that as the item just needed to go away, but it has always worked on the important stuff. It's simple and two the point and only takes 3 ingredients.

One black candle, to represent loss. One orange candle, to represent memory. And patchouli oil to burn as incense to keep me calm and collected; grounded as you will.
As I let the candles and oil burn and permeate the basement, I concentrated on finding my badge. I chanted:
I invite the elements as I stand my ground, to help my lost item soon be found.
I chanted it 9 times, as that number is sacred to me, and let the candles burn for a few minutes more.

The next day, guess what I found, in the GARAGE, UNDER A BOX that my foot just happened to slip on: my badge. I'm sure it fell out of my hand as I was getting into the van one morning to work, but I have no idea why it was under the box. I had even searched there prior to tearing the house apart. But there it was. The funny thing? Two days later I lost it again. LOL. I did the spell once more, and I received it the next day, this time from my coworker who had found it in the parking lot. I don't know what it was about that badge, but the closer it got to the end of the school year, the more it wanted to be lost. A few days before, one of my students pointed out that it was on the floor by my feet. I'm glad I've returned it and I don't have to worry about that damn thing again.

The joys of witching around.

Touch Grass; Dance in the Rain

If I look wet and happy, it's because I am. It may be 11pm where I am, but a thunderstorm is passing through and, for some reason, I had to be in it.

I've been stressing a lot about my future, my finances, my career, my debts, etc. I haven't had a restful sleep these past few days. I know people say to touch grass with your hands or bare feet, but I didn't even have to energy to go outside. Until tonight. I'm so glad I went out, in nothing but a nightgown, and spun around in that delicious rain.

I need to remember to live in the present. Sometimes I get carried away with the future, I miss out on the now.

Back to Mother Nature

There are several reasons why I love the change into spring; one of those reasons are our family trek to the nature trail. It rained yesterday, and it's supposed to rain tomorrow, so today seemed like a great day to go out. This post is pretty much a picture dump of our day.
First off, Lily and Iris made us delicious carrot cake before we headed out.

I'm surprised at how low the Chippewa river already is, considering all the snow melting we had.

A lot of the trees are still bare, but you can see specks of green everywhere.

CONTENT WARNING: DEAD ANIMAL

Unfortunately, we came across a decomposed body of a dog. We wonder if it was lost and froze to death, but we sent a prayer to the gods that it is now happy and that it's ended the suffering.

If it looks like my children are dressed as a 90s grunge band, I don't know what to tell you. I dressed weird at their age, so maybe it's hereditary.

And I leave you here with this beautiful willow. We saw ducks and tried to figure out tracks in the mud. We spent a good hour or so just being in awe of nature.

I love spring.

Beltane Season

Beltane is upon us! Living in Minnesota, the weather has been a bit temperamental, so I decided since I have work tomorrow and will be busy and probably tired by the end of the day, I will do my ritual today.
It was a simple one, as usual. I read a prayer from the Beltane Llewellyn Sabbat Essentials. Shortly afterward, we had a fish dinner J made for the family with rice and veggies. To celebrate High Spring, we had lemon poppyseed muffins.

We've been prepping the garden and enjoying the nicer weather. Going to the park before the wind and rain blows us away.
Anyway, I'm enjoying my spring days, and am actually a little sad the cold weather will be gone soon. I hope spring lasts, though, and that we don't get bombarded with summer heat too early.

Blessed Beltane to everyone in the northern hemisphere. Happy Samhain to those in the southern.
